Description

The official playscript of the original West End production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn't much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband, and father of three school-age children.

While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.

The playscript for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was originally released as a 'special rehearsal edition' alongside the opening of Jack Thorne's play in London's West End in summer 2016. Based on an original story by J.K. Rowling, John Tiffany and Jack Thorne, the play opened to rapturous reviews from theatregoers and critics alike, while the official playscript became an immediate global bestseller.

This definitive and final playscript updates the 'special rehearsal edition' with the conclusive and final dialogue from the play, which has subtly changed since its rehearsals, as well as a conversation piece between director John Tiffany and writer Jack Thorne, who share stories and insights about reading playscripts. This edition also includes useful background information including the Potter family tree and a timeline of events from the Wizarding World prior to the beginning of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

  • PLEASE JKR WRITE THE REAL BOOK 😩

This book is okay, it’s very confusing in my opinion. I’d much rather read it from a main characters point of view. But of course since I’m to impatient to wait for the book to come out (if it ever comes out) I had to read this book, and now Harry Potter and the cursed child is ruined for me. I love the Delphi part and everything but I hate how boring it can get. Overall I didn’t really like it, and if you can I suggest waiting for the real book to come out. Not to mention the fact that I don’t want to sit here and read about a gay relationship. I would be extremely disappointed if that’s how it turned out. Well more disappointed I already am. I didn’t grow up with Harry Potter or anything but when I finally read it I fell in love with the books. This book is very, very disappointing. I do NOT recommend it at all.

Ok, so I kind of liked it but definitely not more then the original Harry Potter books. I wish Rowling herself wrote this and it wasn’t a play or script, just a normal book. So many plot holes but I hope another one comes out and it’s better. I still love the original ones way more.

This book had so many things in the plot that didn’t make any sense and didn’t fit with the original Harry Potter series. I absolutely love Harry Potter but this isn’t Harry Potter and it felt like a fanfiction

I’ve heard plenty of people bash on this script. Hell, there’s even videos on YouTube titles “fixing cursed child”. I personally found this to be a masterpiece, but I will however be removing Act 4 Scene 14 from my brain and replacing it with the Albus and Scorpius kiss I have fabricated in my mind. Thank you JK Rowling. It was a wonderful experience. But please. We need more LGBT representation in the media. I can’t even imagine how it would feel to be a closeted kid reading a healthy gay relationship in such an impactful universe as the Wizarding World. Also, I highly recommend reading along with Imogen Heap’s score for the play. Made things even more magical.
